Led by Wholesome Wave Georgia and Food Well Alliance, Plant 2 Plate provides households on SNAP with 50% off local fruit and vegetable plant purchases when using EBT – plus free gardening kits – to grow fresh food at home.

The initiative began in April 2020 in response to Georgians on SNAP facing limited shopping options for fresh local food during the COVID-19 pandemic.

HOW IT WORKS

Visit a Plant 2 Plate sale, and swipe your EBT card to get 50% off produce plant starts and seedlings.

Purchase three or more plant starts with EBT to receive a free gardening kit, including pots, soil, gloves, trowels, and plant care guides.

Take everything home, and start your container garden!

Only Georgians on SNAP benefits are eligible to participate.

PLANT 2 PLATE FIGHTS FOOD INSECURITY BY:

  • Giving SNAP recipients access to reliable fresh, locally grown food by growing their own fruits and vegetables at home.
  • Providing gardening supplies and edible plants to encourage households on SNAP to adopt healthy eating habits by learning where fresh food comes from, how to eat seasonally, and how to try new foods.
