Healthy Food For All Georgians

Wholesome Wave Georgia partners with local farmers markets to make their healthy fruits and vegetables affordable for all Georgians.

Back in 2009, a group of local food advocates came together with a mission to make healthy, locally grown food affordable for all Georgians.

They formed a non-profit organization called Wholesome Wave Georgia (WWG) and launched a program now known as WWG Fresh for Less at a handful of farmers markets in Atlanta.

WWG Fresh for Less matches or doubles SNAP/EBT (food stamps) spending on locally grown fruits, vegetables, and edible plants.

WWG Fresh for Less is a win-win. Georgia families are empowered to buy more healthy food, while local farmers increase their customer base by attracting shoppers who may otherwise be priced out.

What began in a few markets in Atlanta has grown to 60+ locations across Georgia, and now includes mobile markets and retail stores. Some of your favorite farmers markets participate in this program, including Grant Park Farmers Market, Freedom Farmers Market, Peachtree Road Farmers Market, and more.

Since 2009, WWG has contributed $6.2 million to the local economy through our matching program (WWG Fresh for Less) and through our Produce Prescription program, also known as Wholesome Wave Georgia Food for Health.

Together, we’re growing a healthier Georgia. If you’d like to get involved, follow us on Instagram, subscribe to our e-newsletter, or join us at Southern Chefs Potluck on October 5 to help us raise funds in support of our mission.
